Private Residence - 2015
Mexico City, Mexico

Architect: Overland Partners

The lighting for this private residence owned by an avid art collector is a study in the vertical layering of light and the silhouette of form and space when looking through this layering of light. The project's architectural character is very linear, with a definitive grain of movement from one space to the next. When within each space or anywhere that is perpendicular to this grain of movement, the layers of wall, artwork, and are intentionally highlighted individually. For TM Light, this lighting approach is derived from that of the stage, where performers at the front of the stage (in our case the artwork or the people that inhabit the space) are allowed to float in their own region of light separate from that of the back stage areas, which are illuminated very much separately.
